I made this series of mosaic hearts and poured a whole load of love into each one. I am giving one away but there are others in the series I’m selling from between £150-300 and can post to you in the UK time for the 14th. DM me for pics and prices if you’re interested.

Each heart is made from handmade stoneware tiles which have been fired many times , hand made ,hand printed and glazed by hand too! ♥️
Your heart will sparkle indoors or outdoors and they are finished off with exquisite gold leaf tiles from venice, hand cut by me.

I had a studio visit from the wonderful and very talented @helloepiphany 📸

Visiting from Singapore, Yap Yen reached out asking to come photograph and interview me and the processes behind Artyface’s mosaics. She also took the time to explore some of our work that is up around London. She beautifully captured the detail and soul of your community-made masterpieces.

Yap yen came to my studio at @trinitybuoywharf where I have been for 18 years: I am one its longest standing tenants , which is a testament to the inspirational space and supportive landlords. The space is shared by musicians, artists, creatives, residents and many others. It was also recently, the location for the Great British Sewing Bee.

I feel very honoured that people get in touch and want to come see what happens behind the scenes. 2023 was tough year juggling increasingly complicated family commitments, health and work - but when the planets aren’t colliding but alligning, and I can accommodate visits, it’s really special and reminds me why I love orchestrating these huge public projects with the team and so many members of all the communities that we work with.

Over 7 years we created 14 beautiful William Morris inspired street mosaics, made with @walthamstowsfg and the local #e17 community. The exciting news is that there is a new mosaic coming , with gorgeous tiles made by pupils in Year 7 ! It’s too cold for it to go up yet (the cement won’t set below 6 degrees) and so this sparkly new street art will have to wait until it’s warmer for the big unveil! It’s going up super close but not on the same wall. Another reason to celebrate the nights getting shorter! if you visit these, they’re on the street, Church Hill #e17 for your enjoyment 24/7. Instagram can be an amazing way to meet people and make connections. All our mosaics are about connecting people to an artwork. Often the connections go even further than the local community. Blackhorse Road station is very close to Walthamstow Wetlands and so I spotted some gorgeous photographs by @ajwaud who lives in America.He posted his photos of his trip to the UK to the Walthamstow Wetlands especially to tale photographs of the birds. I messaged him and he kindly agreed to send me some images that I got made into ceramic decals and fired onto stoneware glazed tiles. So the bird of prey you see on these roundels was photographed at the local wetlands but by a visitor from the USA. And now his amazing photography and that bird is immortalised on tiles in this ceramic artwork at the station. This is the story of just one tile. The roundels are rich with many other lovely stories. Every single one of the Globe Primary School mosaics is brilliant. This is Public Art at its Best, in my view. So inclusive in every way, as I learned reading the website about the project. I note that none have been vandalised, which I hope is a result of the quality of the work and its significance in that place.

When I visited the site in Globe Town for the second time last week on a warm, sunny day I managed to take photographs of almost all of them myself, which I will use in my email correspondence, sort of as e-cards, with gratitude and pleasure.”

A beautiful public art mosaic made with Islington

A beautiful public art mosaic made with Islington Heritage Department for Islington Council celebrating the impact of the Irish Diaspora in this area. At one point more than 83% of the nurses at the Whittington Hospital were Irish. They built and cared for this city, London, and many other places that were lucky enough to have them arrive. This was a fantastic project, lead by Sean McGovern, Heritage Project Manager, and 4 local primary schools took part, exploring the history of the Irish and making their tiles that were fired and glazed and make up a large part of the mosaic. The design is hugely down to the creative brilliance of Catherine Clark. It sparkles 24/7 in Navigator Square right beside Archway tube. Oh and they’re not laid out like this- they are laid out in a row of 9 hexagons but they look good in the instagram grid like this. Swipe to see more! There was a great unveiling with the Mayor, The MP, The Irish Ambassador, all four primary schools, Irish musicians, great speeches and a fabulous celebratory event. Huge thanks to everyone that took part especially Sean and Georgie for the amazing art classes for the pupils. Also it was great to celebrate my grandad who was from Belfast, a Dr , who emigrated to London and met my grandma, a nurse. The Artyface Team have delivered a beautiful mosaic made with so many people of all ages and abilities in Perry Barr, Birmingham. This mosaic made up of many mini-masterpieces, pressed into and textured by the people of Perry Barr, will adorn the new handsome train station to celebrate the anniversary of the Commonwealth Games 2022 and the new station that was built at the same time. These tiles tell the story of so many facets of this location. “WOW!! The display with our tiles looks stunning...close up and from afar, love all the intricate designs and words used, just looks wonderful. Really can see our community’s creativity displayed in a brilliant way.
