We’re really excited to announce 5 beautiful hand- We’re really excited to announce 5 beautiful hand-crafted, community made mosaics. These will be for 5 brand new train stations in the Midlands! We had a brilliant start to the clay tile workshops as part of the production of a new commission for West Midland Combined Authority. Following the success of Perry Barr and University station mosaics, which celebrated the Commonwealth Games, we can now announce 5 new exciting mosaics for 5 brand new stations in Birmingham and Walsall: Pineapple Road, Kings Heath and Moseley Village in Birmingham; Darlaston and Willenhall in Walsall. The projects are off to a wonderful start with workshops already taken place in a primary school (Pool Hayes) and a special needs school (New Leaf) in Darlaston and also a wonderful day at Pineapple House near Pineapple Road Station. So many people of all ages and abilities enjoyed making clay tiles for their mosaics. We are looking forward to the upcoming workshops in many schools and community settings over the coming months. Hope to see you there! More details coming soon: watch this space …

Please share with Birmingham residents! You are in Please share with Birmingham residents! You are invited to come along to Pineapple House this coming Friday to make a tile or two for the new station mosaics being created for the 3 new Camphill Line train stations: Pineapple Road, Moseley Village and Kings Heath. Come along to the drop in workshop between 10am -2.30 pm this Friday May 1st! Open to everyone- all abilities and ages- free of charge. Come and press in to the clay to make your mark, bring your own objects (interesting keys, LEGO, rubber stamps, odd earrings etc) or use the tools provided- anything that might give a good texture or leave an imprint . Your tiles will end up immortalised in a beautiful mosaic roundel at any of the 3 new Camphill Line stations (Pretty antique keys also wanted for the Willenhall mosaic too and gratefully received). come anytime- you only need 10 minutes-45 depending on your design. It can be simple or as detailed as you like. Also including words celebrating the local area so if you have any suggestions for words- people, places, events and wildlife particular to each station, do let me know (make sure you say which station if one on particular) and if you can’t get to a workshop to mark it yourself , we will make sure someone makes it for you. #Pineapplehouse #community #mosaic #camphillstationmosaics #clay
Here are a selection of gorgeous tiles made by som Here are a selection of gorgeous tiles made by some of the community that attend classes at Priory Court Community Centre in Walthamstow. The Artyface team have taken clay in to work with the skilled sewing group, the writing with art and crafts group (onthe_write_track) and also the baby and toddlers group, (Stonesoup). The tiles have been intricately patterned with words and places that are important to locals. Some people also brought their own tools to press into the clay making them even more personal: shells, hair jewels, jewellery and other textured objects. These tiles will be fired and glazed in beautiful colours and assembled in stainless steel frames for the new buildings in Priory Court, E17. Each building will have a bespoke handmade mosaic by the main entrance doorway for the residents to enjoy for decades to come. They will add a splash of colour, personal stories and local interest to the new buildings, which are named Tulipwood House, Cottonwood House and Verawood House. We will also be working with Winns Primary School pupils making tiles this term. Can’t wait to bring all these individual woks of art together into a mosaic!
