Fox Primary School, Edge Street, Notting Hill, W8

Fox Primary School wanted something special for their new entrance to the school, visible to Edge Street and open to the street when the new sliding gates open. They also wanted a really exciting project for the pupils and whole school community to celebrate their new build. We decided together on the theme of the local area and landmarks, with multi-cultural fabrics representing the multi-cultural area for the border. Pupils worked with Artyface drawing buildings and patterns to include in the design.

We also agreed to make a Welcome to Fox sign for the entrance and some panels celebrating wildlife for the stairs to the roof garden, allotment and beehives.

The youngest children in the school made stoneware clay tiles to be included in the mosaic using experimentation, textures, coloured slips, printing and pressing into wet clay

The whole school, staff, parents and volunteers as well as the Artyface Team worked together to place all the tiles down and glue them carefully into place. The results are much loved by the community and look beautiful every day.
