Grove Primary School, Romford: Painted Hexagon Project | ||
Grove Primary School wanted a project to brighten up the playground and involve younger
children after the successful mosaic project that involved the outer walls of the school and
children from year 3 upwards. For the painted hexagon project we looked at leaves and
mini-beasts, using drawing, painting and printing techniques with pupils from Year 2, Year 1, Reception and the Nursery.
Parents got involved too and the pupils are really proud of their work. The hexagons were made from ethically sourced marine plywood and were varnished 3 times on each side with yacht varnish so they will last for years to come, needing little maintenance. |

"The hexagons look fantastic and have really brightened up a blank
space. The children loved working on them and were excited to see their
designs on the wall. The staff expertise is brilliant in getting the
best from each child. A great project to be involved with." Debbie Webb Headteacher |
